Her television special, broadcast in the early Seventies, when she had Richard Pryor on her show in a sketch about relationships, was a seminal moment in race relations history, even though CBS tried their best to minimize its impact. And it sounded so interesting in the NYTimes review! I feel this book is pure garbage. Taking three major works as lenses to throw light on our world, she examines "The Origins of Totalitarianism," The Human Condition" and "The Life of the Mind." Sometimes cynical and witty, other times humble and eye opening. As well as anyone who plans on attending Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle, EDC or any of the other music festivals sprouting out of the West Coast of America. Whether you agree with these people, or not, you cannot deny their importance. This story has to have a happy ending Every weekend, the tech rich of Silicon Valley and Los Angeles, find themselves intermingling with hippies, spiritual advisers, artists and shamans, in prehistoric lake beds and dilapidated warehouses, while they listen to electronic dance
