Author Bob Thomas throws a soft, warm light on the life and psyche of golf's greatest technician and competitor. -- Tom Ierubino, Managing Editor, GOLFonline. -- Kiel Christianson, TravelGolf Staff WriterThomas's fiction may be closer to the truth than any non-fiction previously written about HoganIt is particularly useful as source for finding other works, as some of the selections are only partial. Only useful as a door stop on a windy day.. First, the writing and fictionalized conversations are stilted and often trite. This book was a resource that did a good job of explaining the mechanics of flight. In a mere 32 pages this book covers the animal's natural habitat, characteristics, prey and predator and much more. A general introduction begins the book as a whole, which is frequently useful (it is imperfect, but one can overlook that due to the value of the selected texts). His pain is still too raw from the neglect and abuse, and I would fear he would conjure up visions of a wonderful man waiting to take him in and love him.. A caveat to the form practiced at its best: The memoir of a man nearly eighty should be read quickly. Even readers who don't sympathize with his early politics would feel themselves heartless if they didn't wince at the string of humiliations self-imposed on hiBy interweaving historical facts with fictional techniques, Thomas offers a compelling depiction of the whole man, the technical perfectionist as well as the pure lover of the game. Despite a near-fatal accident at the peak of his career, which left doctors wondering whether he would even walk again, Hogan not only returned to golf but picked up a U.S. Because of Hogan's unparalleled mastery of the game, many have speculated that he had discovered some special technique, some change in swing or grip that made fellow tour members feel he was nearly unbeatable: A four-time PGA player of the year, five-time Vardon Trophy winner, and one of only four golfers to win all of the Grand Slam titles. Ben Hogan had a secret. A few years later he went on to win three major tournaments in the same season - a feat no other professional has done before or since. Or so it is said. Open title in his first season back. He shows us what Hogan found in golf, and ultimately what golf found in Hogan.. Now Bob Thomas offers fans an illuminating view of this indisputable master
