After an interesting introductory chapter on the transition from silents to sound, Darby and Du Bois discuss fourteen composers in detail, including the main themes they wrote for particular movies. Okay, when I first came across this book I was hesitant about buying it because a paperback version isn't available. The book does not address the role of human activites and hence is able to mostly maintain balance. For the most part, it's fun to look through & has a few paragraphs of text in each chapter discussing the sub-genre in question & the origins of some well-known cover art, as well as other surprises. They are great together and the kinkiness doesn't seem over the top [for them:]. And that's also important. Its the same book different cover.
